DEBATE ON THE NATURE OF MAN (2009)

What is the state of man when he is born? How will the way he is born effect how he can come to know the one true God? If man is born with a sinful nature and only serves to comply with his depraved nature from birth how can he be saved? If man is not born with a sinful nature, then how does one separate himself from God?

All of these questions are important and were the topic of debate April 27-30, 2009 from 7 to 9:30 p.m. Days before the debate was scheduled to occur, Mattew Black of the Tabernacle Baptist Church notified the church that he was dropping out. Mac Deaver agreed to continue the discussion for the benefit of those interested in comparing the opposing positions. Mr. Deaver presented his affirmative and negative responses as previously scheduled and faced questions from the audience during the time originally alloted to his opponent.
